Jonalyn Macalalad-Molina

Jonalyn, 32 was born in Barangay Dayap, Calauan, Laguna. Married and blessed with a daughter and a son.

Her journey in making arts started back in the Philippines. She completed a crash course of Fine Arts for drawing under the non-formal education program of Dayap National High School in 2004 and took Information Technology and Communication (undergraduate) at the Laguna University.

Just as she arrived in Hong Kong in 2016, she started to draw, specialising in portraiture. The new work environment gave her the push to explore more by learning new techniques through watching Youtube videos during her idle time. She believes that nothing is impossible if you allow yourself to keep trying.

In 2019 she joined Guhit Kulay. She said she is thankful to be part of the collective, it renewed her excitement in creating arts. The sharing of knowledge and the core value of GK which is to encourage more creative minds, indeed helped her in pursuing her passion.

Jonalyn uses graphite, coloured pencil, soft pastel, oil pastel, marker, watercolor and acrylic as her mediums.

She said working away from her family is difficult but her arts helped her to manage her loneliness.
